Welcome
Thank you for using QuteMap2 ("the App"). Your privacy matters to us, and we want to be upfront about how the App works. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App does and does not collect, and the terms under which you use it.
QuteMap2 is a lightweight, "One Click Away" map companion designed to help you quickly see where you are, save places you care about (for example, where you parked your car), measure how far you are from a destination, and get a quick glance at local weather — all with as little friction as possible.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, or share any personal information on our servers.
QuteMap2 does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details such as your name, email address, or phone number. The App does not use cookies, analytics services, advertising frameworks, or any third-party tracking tools.
Location Data
QuteMap2 is a map application and requires access to your device's location to function. With your permission, the App uses Android's ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION and ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION services to:
Show your current position on the map.
Calculate the distance between your current location and a selected point.
Optionally leave a "trace" of where you have moved while the App is open.
Save a location on your device when you tap the save/park button.
Your location is used only on your device. It is not transmitted to us, and it is not logged on any server that we own or operate.
Locally Stored Data
To support the "save place / find my car" feature, QuteMap2 stores a small text file (savedPlaces.txt) in the App's private storage area on your device. This file contains only latitude/longitude coordinates of places you have explicitly chosen to save (up to 20 entries). It never leaves your device, and it is removed when you uninstall the App.
Network Usage
The App requires an internet connection in order to:
Render map tiles, perform address search (geocoding), and display traffic information through Google Maps / Google Play Services.
Fetch publicly available local weather forecasts from the U.S. National Weather Service (forecast.weather.gov), based on your current latitude/longitude.
These requests are made directly from your device. We do not route this traffic through any server owned or operated by us, and we do not log, intercept, or store any of the data retrieved.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
To be clear, QuteMap2 does not collect any of the following:
Personal identification information (name, email, address, phone number)
Device identifiers or hardware information
Contacts, photos, files, SMS, or any other on-device content
Location or GPS data transmitted to our servers (we operate no servers)
Usage analytics, behavioral data, or browsing history
Advertising identifiers
3. Third-Party Services
QuteMap2 relies on the following third-party services to provide core map and weather functionality. When the App communicates with these services, your device connects to them directly, and their own privacy policies govern that interaction:
Google Maps Platform / Google Play Services — used for map rendering, the Geocoder (address search), and location services. See Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
U.S. National Weather Service (forecast.weather.gov) — used to fetch public weather forecast XML data for your current coordinates. See https://www.weather.gov/privacy.
The App does not integrate with any third-party advertising networks, analytics platforms, social media SDKs, or crash-reporting services.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data handling — including your current location, saved places, trace markers, distance calculations, and weather display — occurs entirely on your device. No data is transmitted from your device to us or to any server under our control. Because we do not collect or store any user data on our side, there is no personal data under our control that could be breached.
You can clear all locally stored data at any time by clearing QuteMap2's app data in Android Settings or by uninstalling the App.
5. Permissions
QuteMap2 requests only the permissions it needs to function:
Location (coarse/fine) — to show your position, compute distances, leave map traces, and save/recall places.
Internet / network state — to load map tiles and fetch public weather data.
The App does not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera content, call logs, or SMS.
6. Children's Privacy
QuteMap2 does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the App collects no personal data whatsoever, it does not pose a privacy risk specific to children. QuteMap2 is a general-purpose mapping utility and is not specifically directed at children.
7. Purpose and Disclaimer
QuteMap2 is a convenience and navigation-aid tool. Please read the following carefully:
The App is designed to help users quickly view their location, save and recall places, estimate distances, and glance at local weather.
Map data, address-search results, and weather forecasts are sourced from publicly available third-party services (Google Maps and the U.S. National Weather Service) and are provided "as is" for informational purposes only.
QuteMap2 is not a certified navigation, routing, aviation, marine, or emergency-services tool. Any position, distance, trace, or weather information shown within the App should not be relied upon for life-safety decisions, legal purposes, precise surveying, or emergency response.
Location accuracy depends on your device hardware, network conditions, and third-party services; QuteMap2 cannot guarantee the accuracy, availability, or timeliness of any position or weather information shown.
Users assume all risk associated with any decisions they make using the App. The developer, InfoPlus LLC, is not responsible for any damages or consequences arising from the use or interpretation of information displayed in the App.

ANY INACCURACIES, ERRORS, OR OMISSIONS IN THE DATA PRESENTED;
ANY INTERRUPTION, DELAY, OR FAILURE OF THE APP OR ITS DATA SOURCES;
ANY THIRD-PARTY SERVICES OR DATA ACCESSED THROUGH THE APP.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Your Consent
By downloading, installing, or using QuteMap2, you consent to this Privacy Policy, acknowledge the convenience-tool nature of the App, and agree that you assume all risk related to any decisions you make using it.
